Sunday Reset for 2021

Planning and Organization

It's the first Sunday of January 2021; a great time to reassess your priorities and plan out the week ahead!

So grab your planner and get started for a fulfilling week! I tried the Stargazer Happy Planner last year and I'm seriously not kidding when I say it changed my life! (Not sponsored--I just really love it.) But anything can work as long as it gets the job done; a piece of paper, a printable, a dry erase board (or your dresser mirror), you get the idea.

Instead of yearly resolutions (which can often feel distant, abstract, and out of reach), I like to set smaller goals every week/month. For example, instead of "eat healthier this year," I like to say "prep healthy meals every week." This helps me have something concrete to work on and also allows me to feel like I made progress at the end of the week. Which in turn, motivates me to keep going! And if I didn't do a great job achieving my goals this week, it's okay because I haven't lost a lot of time and I can still get back on track for next week!

When setting goals, I believe it's important to think about the different aspects of your life in order to make balanced progress. You can always tweak the list to what's more important to you, but here are a few examples of what I like to include:

  1. Spirituality/Religion: reading and studying the Qur'an, praying on time
  2. Physical Health: exercising and eating well
  3. Family: spending some nice quality time with everyone
  4. Career: work projects, etc.
  5. Social: reaching out to friends, volunteering
  6. Education: spending time learning new skills
  7. Artistic Outlet: journaling a couple times per month
  8. Home Projects: finally organize that disaster zone!

I also like to focus on one word to be the theme for each month (my planner calls this the "power word"). At the end of every week, I evaluate whether I am taking actions in accordance with the theme. For January 2021, my focus word is "Reset." So I'm going to try to leave all the negativity of 2020 in the past and "reset" to a better state of mind.

I hope you found this helpful in planning your upcoming month! And drop a comment with your personal tips and suggestions; I'd love to hear them!
